Chumar chitrakala has a special history in Kerala background. It is more connected with mythology and temple art form and also the natural way of its material usage. Even though there has been a lot of improvisation taken place in the route of the development of contemporary Mural Art of Kerala, there are still Mural Artists who strictly follow the traditional way of Mural Painting in Kerala. Khetrakala academy takes effort to preserve this ancient culture of Mural Art in Kerala and has designed and conducts course on Mural Painting for the young talents. The course aims at developing the skilled Mural artists from this present generation.
